Celtic Harpist and singer Carol Kappus and her talented friends return to the Dexter Library to present a look at celtic Harping, past, present and future. Traditional tunes from Ireland and Scotland flow with music by contemporary composers and a few wild and fun new things performed on a fabulous new electric harp. Featuring: Carol Kappus, Celtic harp, Roberto Warren, harp plus! and the Ann Arbor Celtic Harpers. This is a FREE concert, presented by the Dexter Library.

Carol presents two workshops: first a workshop on her Magic Hands system to give ease and flow to your playing. Then a workshop on composing and arranging. She will also play some of her tunes and arrangements and give the participants a chance to try out the electric DHC32 harp.

If you're intrigued by all the new electric harps and want to take one for a "test" drive, this is the workshop for you! If you've already bought one and would like some help figuring out how to manage the beast, bring it to this workshop and Carol will give you the complete rundown in this electric harp introduction. It's not an acoustic harp and you'll see how to make the most out of its characteristics. She'll have the amps and plenty of gadgets and show you how all the gear connects up to make the most of this instrument.

Song is a great intro to a language with rhythm and melody aiding the learning process. The songs of Gaelic Scotland are beautiful and full of emotion and history. Carol will teach you a simple song in Gaelic as well as the chord structures that are most effective in Scottish music. First comes the lyrics and then the simple harp accompaniment. Add this nice touch to your repertoire!

Carol and her group, The Ann Arbor Celtic Harpers will play some beautiful Celtic tunes and Carol will debut her new electric harp - the DNC32 in a set of tunes written especially for it.

Carol's Scottish group, Blue Caledonia, will perform a set of Scottish tunes on the Red Dragon stage. With fiddler, Katherine Dunham and dancer, Ren'ee Ginell.

Carol will teach a workshop of tunes from around Scotland and will have a vendor booth where you can chat with her and buy her books.
